Porsche Unveils Mission X: A 100% Electric Hypercar With Record-Breaking Ambitions

At the same time as its 75 years of Porsche unveils a brand new concept called Mission X. A 100% electric hypercar supposed to be the worthy descendant of the 959, Carrera GT and 918 Spyder. Its specifications are simple: it wants to be the best on the Nürburgring.

1983, 2003, 2013… and 2023. We felt it coming and it is definitely there. 10 years after the self-arriving Porsche 918 Spyder 10 years after the Carrera GT, the Mission X arrives. For the moment, it is only a concept, at least the time to know if this car with a very modern look appeals to potential customers. Aesthetically, this hypercar displays a real racing car design. No traditional windshield, but a kind of cockpit, very rounded, a bit like on the 963 which raced at Le Mans this weekend.

And for good reason, this style is not there for nothing: it wants to break the Nordschleife lap record on the Nürburgring for a production car. To achieve this, its specifications are well loaded. Porsche does not announce technical data, but simply that they want to achieve a power-to-weight ratio of 1 hp per 1 kg. Just that. Another detail, its aerodynamics have been worked on to provide it with more than twice the downforce of the latest generation 911 GT3 RS, which is already a benchmark in this area.

Discovery of a UFO

It was in the Paris region that we went to discover it, for the first time in real life. And she impresses us. Much more than in photos. Another advantage, we were able to compare it directly with its predecessors, the 918 Spyder, the Carrera GT and the 959. We also learn that its new 900 V technology should allow it to charge twice as fast as the Porsche Taycan, which is already currently one of the fastest charging cars on the market.
