Porsche is currently working on a more powerful version of the Taycan Turbo S electric car called Turbo GT. With its 1,000 hp, this new electric car would dethrone the Tesla Model S Poster. She would be the champion of the famous Nürburgring circuit.
The market for electric super sedans is growing at a faster rate than any other market. Industry giants such as Audi, Porsche, Tesla, BMW, Hyundai and Dodge are racing for powerful electric sedans. Tesla being in the lead in terms of power with its Model S Plaid, Porsche is preparing to take up the torch and surpass them at their own game. This German manufacturer has already beaten it on the Nürburgring circuit with the Taycan Turbo S. But , an even more powerful variant begins to take shape.
The new Porsche Taycan electric car intends to compete with the Tesla Model S Plaid?
When it was released, the Tesla Model S Plaid was talked regarding. The car has a power of 1,020 hp. But also an acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds. Not to mention its top speed of 322 km/h combined with a range of 600 km.
It is now considered as the most powerful car in the world. Impossible to match it, at least for the moment, because Porsche is preparing its response.
Indeed, a prototype, baptized Taycan Turbo GT, was spotted during open road testing. The main exterior improvement to the beautiful black EV certainly concerns the rather flat rear wing. Also, the slightly modified front splitter makes the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT look much more aggressive than ever. The other elements of the car take up the Turbo S style with its sills and high-performance brakes faithful to the brand.
Electric car Porsche Taycan: with three engines
Porsche is very discreet regarding this prototype. However, rumors suggest that this Turbo GT would be more powerful than the Turbo S. However, remember that the latter is currently at the top of the charts with its 760 ch and his couple 1 048 Nm. These characteristics would allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 260 km/h.
To this effect, we can say that the Turbo GT would adopt the same configuration as the Model S Plaid of the American giant. Thus, it would have three engines with a power of 1,000 hp. This car might deliver a whopping 746 kW or 1,014 hp. This represents 6 hp less compared to the Tesla Model S Plaid. A small gap that is almost imperceptible.
Whether this will be enough to compete with the Tesla Model S Plaid remains open. However, the battle promises to be interesting.
Either way, if there’s one thing the Model S Plaid can’t beat, it’s its price. Indeed, the sum of 131 400 euros practiced by Tesla does not even allow you to buy a Taycan GTS from a Porsche distributor. Knowing that the Turbo S already costs 201,440 euros, we can already imagine that the Turbo GT will be charged an additional 100,000 euros compared to the American electric car.
