The new Porsche Mission X concept
A few days ago, it was announced that Porsche was going to present the sports car of the future. Yesterday, the company unveiled the Mission X concept. The latter, which must be described as a super car, offers a design that is both futuristic and carries retro elements, as well as an all-electric architecture.
Porsche said it was evaluating the car for possible production.
The concept comes as part of the celebration of 75 years of Porsche. Indeed, it was on June 8, 1948 that the first Porsche 356 was homologated.
“The Porsche Mission X is a technological beacon for the sports car of the future,” Porsche CEO Oliver Blume said in a statement. “Like the 959, the Carrera GT and the 918 Spyder before it, the Mission X provides a decisive impetus for the evolutionary development of future vehicle concepts. »
And to illustrate just how far the technology is progressing, Porsche has set ambitious performance goals for a production version. We are talking in particular regarding a recharging time twice as fast as that of the Taycan Turbo S, aerodynamic downforce superior to that of the 911 GT3 RS, a weight-to-power ratio of around one horsepower per kilogram and a record at the Nürburgring for a production vehicle. For now, the mark of 6:35.183 belongs to the Mercedes-Benz AMG One.

The concept is relatively compact, stretching out at 177.0 inches and 78.7 inches wide. It brings its proportions back to those of the Carrera GT 918 Spyder. This two-seater consists of a lightweight glass dome and a carbon fiber reinforced plastic exoskeleton, which gives it its strength, as well as attachment points for the installation of prototype Le Mans style doors.
These are a nod to Porsche’s legendary 917, while the headlights are meant to reference the optics of the 906 and 908. When activated, they open like blinking eyes.
The exterior is completed with 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels, carbon fiber aerodynamic components, a unique paint job called Rocket Metallic, cameras instead of side mirrors and the new Porsche logo. The rear wheels feature nearly transparent aero blades, designed like turbines to improve brake cooling.

On board, the designers have thought of integrating a chrono which is fixed on the dashboard.
What we miss are the technical details, because Porsche has remained silent on this. We know that the company is working on several innovative technologies, just like the parent company Volkswagen. It is certain that we will put the best of what is available at the service of this model, if it reaches production.
Speaking of which, if the model passes this stage, it shouldn’t be expected before 2025.
