“Porsche Cayenne’s Fourth-Generation SUV Unveiled, Feat. Unique Dashboard Design & Over-The-Air Updates”

The fourth-generation Porsche Cayenne will be unveiled on April 18 at the Shanghai Auto Show. The SUV’s dashboard is dominated by three screens, one in front of the passenger. A special film ensures that the content shown on the 10.9-inch display cannot be seen from the driver’s seat. This allows the front passenger to watch a film while driving, for example, without distracting the driver.

With the new generation, the automatic selector lever moves to the steering wheel. This means there is more space in the center console – for a cooled smartphone charging cradle, among other things. The cooling allows inductive charging with up to 15 watts. However, Apple Carplay and Android Auto can only be used if the smartphone is charged with the cable. Apps like Spotify or Apple Music are supported. The entire system is supplied with updates “over the air”, for example for current navigation maps.

The driver can select up to seven different views on his screen. This also includes a simulation of the classic five round instruments of a Porsche. The fourth generation of the best-selling Porsche model will be the brand’s last large SUV to be equipped with an internal combustion engine. The successor will be purely electric. (aum/gr)
