The Heritage Design series continues to be developed at Porsche. The German sports car manufacturer pays homage to its old glories, by offering its current models special series inspired by the cars that have marked its history. The latest addition to this collection is the Porsche 911 Sport Classic, a collector’s edition that will be produced in a limited edition. It follows on from the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition.

This 911 type 992 Sport Classic is directly inspired by the original 911, marketed from 1964 to 1973. The designers of the Stuttgart firm also wanted to refer to the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1972. In terms of design, this materializes by a widened body borrowed from the Turbo model, here declined in a metallic Sport Gray color inspired by the Fashion Gray color of the Porsche 356. The car is also available with a Black, Metallic Gentian Blue, Metallic Quartz Gray or even with the Paint to Sample option, which expands the choice of colors.

The interior of the German uses the famous Pepita houndstooth fabric, on the seats and inside the doors. For the rest of the upholstery, Porsche has used black and brown leather – the color is precisely called Classic Cognac – to offer a vintage style to the cockpit. And if the screens of the 992 are still present, the analog tachometer adopts a green look, also inspired by the first 911. It’s like coming back to the end of the 1960s!

Under the rear bonnet, the motorization no longer has much to do with the engines of the time. We find the flat-six 3.7 biturbo, which develops 550 hp, or 30 hp less than the 911 Turbo. The engine is mated to a sports exhaust system and a seven-speed manual gearbox, making this model the most powerful 911 with a manual gearbox in the current range. The chassis is taken over from the 911 Turbo and features Porsche’s Active Suspension System (PASM), which includes sports suspensions and a 10 millimeter lowering. The performances – maximum speed and acceleration – of the car are not communicated at the time of writing these lines.

A total of 1,250 copies of this Porsche 911 SC will be produced. This special edition can already be ordered, at a call price set at €280,603. The first deliveries will take place from July 2022 in French and European Porsche centers. The height of elitism, a chronograph designed by Porsche Design and matching the interior of the car will be offered to buyers.
