A few days after the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans, the centenary edition, Porsche unveils the 911 Carrera GTS “Le Mans Centenaire Edition” which celebrates the greatest motor race in the world. France is honored by the automaker from across the Rhine because only 72 copies of this 911 will be marketed, exclusively with us. 72 copies for the number of Porsche participations in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Even if Porsche somewhat missed out on the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans with just one Hypercar 963 LMDh in the Top 10, i.e. #5, let’s praise the initiative taken by the German car manufacturer with this 911 Carrera GTS “The Le Mans Centenaire Edition” already a collector.
The style of the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS “Le Mans Centenaire Edition” is officially inspired by the Porsche 356 SL and 911 GT1, the 356 Gmünd SL having been the very first Porsche to be entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this in 1951. It is this competition 356 that accompanies the 911 Carrera GTS “Le Mans Centenaire Edition” in the photos published by Porsche.
Directly linked to the 356 SL from the 1951 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 911 Carrera GTS which is the subject of this article features an exclusive “Le Mans Silver” color, the #46 visible on the sides of this same 911 Carrera GTS having been that of the 356 SL of 1951.
As for the victorious Porsche 911 GT1, at Le Mans, in 1998, the golden color of its rims and its louvered quarter panels are found on the 911 Carrera GTS “Le Mans Centenaire Edition”.
This very limited series is also equipped with various badges related to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Gold is found for the Porsche and 911 inscriptions.
Inside this “French 911” which celebrates the 24 Hours of Le Mans, there is mainly “Graphite Blue” upholstery supported by “Craie” stitching. The door sills, seats and central armrest are decorated with other inscriptions linked to the history of Porsche at Le Mans.
Mechanically, this special Le Mans 911 Carrera GTS Coupé still features the 3.0 l biturbo flat-six with 480 hp sent to the rear wheels only, thanks to a manual gearbox (7 speeds). Note that it is possible to choose the PDK automatic transmission (8 gears).
Finally, the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS “Le Mans Centenaire Edition” is already available to order at a unit price of €237,819.
