The Dubai Health Authority revealed that the population of the Emirate of Dubai increased during the past year to reach three million 549 thousand and 900 people, compared to three million 478 thousand and 300 people at the end of 2021, an increase of 71 thousand and 600 people and a raw growth rate of 20.6 individuals per 1000 of the population. According to the annual statistical report recently issued by the Authority, 79.4% of the working-age population is in the age group between 20 and 59 years, which is the same percentage recorded in 2021.

The report explained that, although there was a numerical increase in all age groups, it was more concentrated in the age groups of “25-39” years, and the percentage of males in society reached 69%, compared to 31% of females, which is the same gender percentage for the two years. Previously, this indicates a state of stability in the gender ratio in the emirate over a period of three years. The percentage of children in the age group of 0-14 years also reached 14.8%, including 5.3% under the age of five years.

The report indicated that the number of residents in the age groups over 60 years reached only 2.4% of the population, as in the previous two years as well, which indicates that the society of the Emirate of Dubai is a young society that is constantly growing and the number of males is increasing in all age groups except for the age group of “5- 9 years, as well as the age group 70 years and above, in which the number of females is 347 more than males.

The report pointed out that 34,354 new births were registered in Dubai during the past year, compared to 32,477 births in 2021, an increase of 0.51%, and that 21% of the total number of births are “citizens”, compared to 79% of non-Emiratis, which is The percentages were the same as last year, as it was found that the majority of births, 83%, were in private sector hospitals, and 17% in government sector hospitals, revealing a high demand for births in the private sector since 2020.

The authority confirmed that it is making efforts to achieve a health system with international standards, in order to achieve the vision of leadership in the health care sector, and to make Dubai a leading health care destination by adopting innovative and integrated care models and enhancing community participation.
