The South American Football Confederation paid homage tonight to the entire delegation of the Argentine National Team, the last world champion, on the “night of the stars”. The president of Conmebol, Alejandro Domínguez, delivered three replicas of the latest Argentine trophies, the Copa América, the Finalissima and the World Cup, to the members of the coaching staff, led by Lionel Scaloni. Those in charge of delivering the decorations were Fernando Romero, the author of the song “Muchachos” and José Andrada, a little boy who went viral during the World Cup encouraging his team.
The benchmark for the albiceleste team, Lionel Messi, expressed that he was very moved by the tribute: “I think we are still not aware of being world champions. Thank God I was able to achieve everything in football. Thank my colleagues. Now I have to enjoy what I have left, I don’t know how much it will be. I love soccer”, he’i.
He added that he always dreamed of being a footballer but that it did not cross his mind to be the “best in the world.”
“I had never dreamed of all this, just enjoying all of this, being a professional soccer player, doing what I always loved, which is playing ball, trying to improve myself and wanting more. I had many decisions, I had many defeats, but I always looked forward”, was the final message of the world champion captain.
