Popular Turkish brand Mavi sets new standard for sustainable denim

Mavi is Turkey’s leading denim brand that set new standards in sustainability last year. It became the first Turkish apparel brand to receive a double “A” score on the Carbon Disclosure Project A list, recognizing its achievements in climate and water protection and placing it in the top 2% of 21,000 participating companies globally.

Progress in 2023

Mavi is committed to making a positive impact across the entire value chain through sustainable practices and innovative solutions. An important milestone last year was the increase in the sales share of the sustainable All Blue range from 14% to 25%. Mavi was able to reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions per value added by 87% (compared to 2019), demonstrating their continued commitment to environmental protection. In addition, Mavi has significantly increased the proportion of renewable energy in its operations and relies on efficient water management and controlled chemical use and waste management. These measures have made a significant contribution to reducing the ecological footprint and have earned an impressive double “A” score on the CDP list.

future goals

Mavi has set ambitious goals to further reduce its environmental footprint. By 2030, the company plans to use 100% sustainably sourced cotton. Mavi also plans to become a climate positive company by 2050.

All blue series

The All Blue collection is at the core of Mavi’s sustainable development plan. The range is made from certified organic, recycled and Better Cotton licensed materials. These environmentally friendly fibers, combined with technologies such as E-Flow, laser technology and automatic metering systems, help reduce water and energy consumption as well as the use of chemicals. The collection reflects Mavi’s commitment to achieving a positive environmental balance through sustainable materials and technologies.
