Detained for two months now, Munteanu, 40, was accused of having administered drugs without the knowledge of his two victims, during separate events that occurred in 2013 and 2016.

Victim in distress

During the first crime, he had drugged the singer, with whom he had participated in the very popular show Star Academy in 2004.

“In the months following [le jour où elle a été droguée], she felt distressed and had to consult, according to the summary of facts. She then confronted the accused, who told her he had put a powdered drug in her drink. He said he didn’t know why he did it, he mightn’t help it.”

The singer, who successfully requested the lifting of the publication ban on her identity, told the judge of the distress she experienced following the crime.

As for the second victim, he is a man who met Munteanu via a dating site. The victim, who had symptoms similar to those of taking MDMA, confronted the accused, who admitted to having put “poppers” in his drink.

He apologizes

“I recognize my inappropriate actions, I did not want to betray their trust,” said the singer, swearing that it was a “lack of judgment” and affirming that he had no bad intention.

He then swore he “understood” and that he would do everything in his power to never come before a judge once more.

At the suggestion of the parties, he received 100 days in prison, followed by two years’ probation during which he must obey the orders of the officer in charge of his case.

The victims, for their part, said they were satisfied with the outcome of the case, the Crown said, explaining that with the end of the case, they will now be able to move forward.

Given the preventive detention, Munteanu will be able to leave prison this weekend.
