Vatican City, Jul 14 (EFE).- Pope Francis on Sunday urged moderation and the sharing of resources so that everyone can live with dignity, and once more appealed for an end to wars during the Sunday Angelus prayer from the window of the Apostolic Palace.
The pontiff assured that “the Gospel is not proclaimed alone, but together, as a community,” and for this “it is important to know how to be sober in the use of things, sharing resources, abilities and gifts, and doing without the superfluous.”
All of this serves “to be free and so that everyone has what they need to live a dignified life,” stressed Francis, who highlighted the importance of “being sober in thoughts and feelings, abandoning one’s own partial visions, prejudices and rigidities.”
In front of the pilgrims gathered in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, the Pope reiterated his call to end wars. He urged them to pray to the Virgin Mary so that she “comforts and obtains peace for all the peoples who are gripped by the horror of war,” and asked them “not to forget the martyred Ukraine, Palestine, Israel and Myanmar” (Burma).
On the occasion of Sea Sunday, which is celebrated every second Sunday in July, the Pope also appealed to “pray for all those who work in the maritime sector.”
