Pope receives Rotary International President Jennifer Jones today

The international president of Rotary, Jennifer Jones, will be in Italy from today to 29 April: on the agenda, Monday at 11.00, the audience with Pope Francis in the Vatican, and a series of institutional meetings in the following days. To welcome her, the Governor of the 2080 district (Rome, Lazio and Sardinia), Guido Franceschettiwith the director of the Board of Rotary International, Alberto Cecchini.

At the heart of President Jones’s mission, the first woman to hold this office in the 118-year history of the organization, are the projects promoted around the world for social inclusion, the fight once morest poverty, the campaign to prevent eating disorders, that for the eradication of polio.

On the cultural front, it should be noted that Rotary is one of the major international scholarship providers and many young people choose Italy above all for classical studies and music.

Particular significance also assumes the encounter with i top management of Unindustria Lazio whose associates have actively participated in the initiatives financed by Usaid, the United States Agency for International Development which, through the Rotary Foundation, has allocated 5 million dollars to be spent on the Italian territory to counter the impact of Covid on the various spheres of the life of the population.
