Vatican City – Pope Francis was admitted to the Roman Polyclinic Gemelli in Rome on Wednesday followingnoon because of a respiratory infection. Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said in a press release that he was to be subjected to investigations that had already been planned. According to media reports, the Pope might spend a few days in the hospital. The Pope’s appointments on Thursday and Friday, as well as an interview in the Vatican scheduled for Wednesday followingnoon, have been cancelled.
