Pope Francis makes a surprise visit to young Ukrainian refugees being treated at a children’s hospital in Rome.
One of the pictures released by the Vatican showed the Pope talking to a little girl with a bandage on her head and a tube in her throat.
The Vatican said 19 Ukrainian children were receiving treatment in two departments of the Bambino Gesu hospital for cancer, neurological diseases or serious war injuries caused by the blasts. About 50 children from Ukraine have received hospital treatment since the war began.
