The Holy See’s commitment to world peace is absolute and continuous. As long as there is war in any part of the world, the Vatican will never stop fighting for peace.
After last Thursday (15/8), during the Angelus prayer on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Pope Francis again called for peace in Gaza, including through a ceasefire on various fronts and relying on dialogue, not violence.
This time, Pope Francis’ appeal was made on the occasion of the Angelus Prayer at the Vatican, Sunday (18/8), or three days after the Angelus Prayer, Thursday.
In his report, Father Markus Solo Kewuta SVD from the Vatican, Sunday (18/8), Pope Francis again urged for peace negotiations in the Middle East.
“While further negotiations on a ceasefire in Gaza are underway in Cairo, Pope Francis stressed today the importance of the path of dialogue or negotiation, not violence,” said Padre Marco, the nickname of the only Vatican official from Indonesia.
“Let us continue to pray that the path to peace will open in the Middle East, Palestine and Israel,” added Padre Marco, quoting Pope Francis’ appeal.
Father Marco, who is the Vatican’s Dicastery Staff for Interreligious Dialogue, added that the Pope appealed to the conflicting parties in Palestine and Israel to seek dialogue and refrain from violence.
“The Pope stressed the need to find a path to peace and called for the avoidance of violent acts and violent reactions. In addition to the Middle East, his call for peace also includes other crisis areas such as Ukraine and Myanmar,” concluded Father Marco. (Nov)
