Pope Francis regrets that there are still Christians in the world who are persecuted for their faith

VATICAN CITY.- This Sunday, the Pope Francisco regretted that many Christians are still discriminated once morest and persecuted in different parts of the planet because of their faith, and once more urged the end of wars Worldwide.

“Today we remember the Roman protomartyrs, and we too live in a time of martyrdom, even more so than in the first centuries” of Christianity, said the pontiff.

“In so many parts of the world, so many of our brothers and sisters suffer discrimination and persecution because of their faith,” added the Bishop of Rome, following the Sunday prayer of the Angelus from the window of the Apostolic Palace. From there he also greeted the faithful gathered in the square, among them pilgrims from Poland, California, the United States, and Costa Rica.

As every week, the Holy Father asked that end the war conflicts in force worldwide and appealed to the search for peace.

“On this last day of June, we implore the sacred Heart of Jesus “to touch the hearts of those who want war so that they move on to projects of dialogue and peace,” added the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church.

He once more mentioned several countries affected by armed conflict: “Let us not forget the martyred Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Myanmar, and so many other places that suffer so much because of war.”
