His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church, called for the advancement of human brotherhood everywhere and in all fields in response to pressing global challenges, during his meeting with the jury of the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity 2024 in the Vatican.
Pope Francis encouraged the jury members, who together represent Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America, to promote the values of human brotherhood, whether through the award or through their fields of specialization.
Pope Francis, one of the honorary laureates of the award, said: “Human brotherhood is important for our contemporary world and urged the jury members to continue spreading the values of human brotherhood in their various fields and specializations.
For their part, the members of the jury expressed their gratitude to Pope Francis for his Holiness’ promotion of the values of human brotherhood during his papacy for the Catholic Church, especially the values of solidarity, environmental protection and equality.
They praised the role of Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, for their historic meeting in 2019 to sign the historic Human Fraternity Document, and stressed that the values contained in the Human Fraternity Document are the compass that guides them during the process of selecting the award honorees in its 2024 session.
