Vatican City: Former Pope Benedict XVI’s health condition remains critical. Doctors are monitoring him at a convent in the Vatican.
After visiting him, Pope Francis announced that a special prayer will be held for him today at St. John Lateran in Rome.
The health condition of 95-year-old Benedict XVI has been in critical condition for several days. Benedict XVI abdicated in 2013 due to ill health and had withdrawn from public life. Benedict XVI is the first pope to abdicate in 600 years.
‘Let us remember him. He is very tired. Let us pray to God to keep him in witness of his love for the Church and to give him comfort’ – Pope Francis said in his weekly homily.
The health condition of Benedict XVI, who is facing the difficulties inherent in old age, deteriorated on Wednesday followingnoon. In a picture released by the Vatican earlier this month, he looked very tired. After his abdication, he lived in a house in the Vatican Gardens with his secretary, Archbishop George Ganswein.
