Elaf: Lebanese pop singer Nourzi released her first song, “Zakir”, to launch her career as a solo singer. The lyrics of the song “Zakir”, written in the Lebanese dialect, express hope and self-love despite feelings of grief over the loss of loved ones.
Nourzi was inspired to write the song’s lyrics from her mother and the reality of the power cut in Lebanon.
Commenting on the matter, Noorzi said: “I was visiting my parents’ house when the power went out, which prompted me to spend some time playing the guitar. The song’s passages flowed seamlessly with the overwhelming emotions I felt in those moments, and the lyrics reflect my state of losing a part of my personality with The end of the relationship with people. Then I played the song in front of my mother, who expressed her opinion with the words and melodies. I did not know at the time that I would release this song following a year as my own solo song and share it with the whole world.”
At the end of her song, Nourzy skillfully moves from Arabic to English. “I wanted to include both languages in my first song, because I have been singing in them since I was a child,” she says. This allowed her to freely express her feelings of grief and heartbreak over her last relationship.
The video, which was filmed in the Lebanese city of Jounieh, showcases Nourzi’s vital and creative energy with some movements and shots appropriate to the song’s lyrics, and includes scenes of carts of florists, pies and local girls’ spinners, who spontaneously participated in the filming.
The cotton candy shot reflects Nourzi’s decision to launch her career as a solo pop singer, in a clear reference to the video clip that brought her together with her fellow singers in Karisma.

Nourzi appeared with Charisma during her concert tour with The5, and many of the band’s songs gained widespread popularity, such as “Haga Ghair” and “Helwat Al-Hayat”. Nourzi seeks to continue her musical career as a solo singer, especially following the success she achieved in Karisma, a pop group consisting of three young singers from different regions of the Middle East.
Nourzi added, “The time has come to fulfill my dream of launching as a solo artist and singer.”

The Lebanese singer and songwriter, currently residing in the United Arab Emirates, is 25 years old. Her musical career began at the age of only 11 when she enrolled at the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music to learn singing and playing the violin.

After winning the youth music competition from Virgin Radio Lebanon, Nourzi won the #singforthe5 competition organized by Clean & Clear. As a result, Sony Music Entertainment Middle East has signed Norzi, one of the lead singers of the three-girl group Karisma, to two back-to-back musical projects.

Norzi starred in the Charisma band’s tours in the Middle East, and many of the band’s videos garnered high views. The year 2019 also witnessed the band’s collaboration with Sunsilk Arabia and Vice Arabia to produce the lyric video entitled “Ma Ana Banat” as part of the Women’s Empowerment Campaign, with the aim of highlighting the importance of the role of women in the music sector.
