Miami, Aug 21 (EFE).- The Polly Pocket case-shaped house, the iconic 1990s doll from manufacturer Mattel, now exists in real size in Massachusetts (USA) and has been converted into accommodation to celebrate the toy’s 35th anniversary.
The doll becomes a host and opens her two-story vintage-themed house to celebrate a fun sleepover, Airbnb, the company responsible for promoting this project, said in a statement on Wednesday.
Located in the town of Littleton, Massachusetts, Polly Pocket’s life-size treasure chest stands nearly 43 feet tall and, according to the digital hosting company, promises to offer “nostalgic surprises” that will transport guests back to their childhood as they “discover all about life in miniature size.”
“For 35 years, Polly Pocket has been pocket-sized, but this summer, Polly’s iconic house straight out of a ’90s dream is open for a life-sized adventure,” Airbnb said.
Additionally, the digital platform announced that guests will be able to request a reservation for one of three one-night stays, which will take place from September 12 to 14 for four guests, each at $89.00 per person.
The town of Littleton was chosen as the setting for the famous doll’s house because it has the same name as the Polly Pocket universe.
Details of the experience
The platform explained that during their stay, guests will be able to explore every corner of the house, get ready in Polly’s dressing table and even take a look at the retro fridge and prepare a picnic full of snacks.
There, guests will have the opportunity to relax in the living room, where they will have access to Polly’s pull-out sofa, and they will also be able to make personalized charm bracelets, to match the rest of the visitors.
The home takes the concept of “small but mighty” to a new level, Airbnb said.
They also highlighted that tourists will learn about the doll’s life in Polly’s closet, where her most iconic clothes from yesteryear are kept waiting to be used.
According to the release, this one-night experience will be available for booking between August 21 and 28, however, those who are unable to book a stay will have access to the life-size Polly Pocket house as guests of one of the 21 experiences for 12 guests that will take place from September 16 to October 6.
