Giorgia Meloni in full force in the interview with Fuori dal Coro. The Prime Minister, guest on the March 27 episode of Mario Giordano’s show, focuses in particular on the issue of migrants, responding to those who accuse her of not having respected her electoral promises: “When last year the landings increased, let’s say , in a considerable way, I said I preferred structural results to immediate but ephemeral results, even if in the short term I would have had to pay a price, for those results to arrive perhaps in terms of consensus. But then those results slowly arrive. Compared to the same period last year, landings decreased by 60%, particularly from Tunisia, which shows that the strategy that Italy brought to Europe and on which it convinced Europe despite the opposition of the Italian left and in some even European cases, is bearing fruit”.
“The route, for example, from Türkiye has been completely eliminated. Now, does that mean we’ve solved the problem? No. It means – underlines Meloni – that the work we are doing in Europe in the meantime, in which the debate is moving from ‘let’s redistribute the immigrants who come to us illegally’ to ‘let’s stop them’, seems to me to be a non-minor change of direction. Italy has been the protagonist of a series of innovative initiatives in which we have slowly brought the other European countries along too. The memorandum with Tunisia, the memorandum with Egypt, the agreement with Albania which is being attempted to be dismantled by those who do not think like us in every way. So there are some very important things that are happening and on which we are teaching.”
Finishing speaking on the immigration topic, the leader of the Brothers of Italy launches fiery words towards a part of the judiciary, which has hindered the work of the government: “We must also deal with reality because there is also a lot of people, and I want to say this clearly, who don’t exactly work in favor. Because when we made the Cutro decree and modified the legislation in such a way that a person who did not have the right to be here might be expelled and repatriated in 30 days, you know better than me what happened. A certain politicized judiciary has mobilized on the rule – accuses Meloni – and has begun not to apply it, the matter has ended up with the Supreme Court, the Cassation has sent it to the European Court of Justice and clearly this wastes a lot of your time” .
