What happened
The car in which the politician Zakhar Prilepin was driving was blown up on Saturday followingnoon at the exit from the town of Bor in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Behind the wheel was his driver and friend Alexander Shubin with the call sign “Evil”, who died from his injuries.
According to preliminary data, Prilepin was driving home from new regions and stopped for a bite to eat on the way. After the Audi Q7 continued to move, there was an explosion. All the way he was allegedly followed by unknown people, who later committed the crime.
What is known regarding the state of Prilepin
As a result of the explosion, the writer was injured. Interfax, citing emergency services, informed that the writer’s condition was assessed as serious. He can be delivered to Moscow for treatment, air ambulances are sent for transportation. The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, said that the writer received fractures.
Prilepin is currently provide medical assistance doctors in Nizhny Novgorod, where he was taken by helicopter. It was decided to refuse transportation to Moscow due to the condition of the victim.
How did the authorities react?
Shortly following the news of the incident, the ICR opened a criminal case under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Act of Terrorism”). The course and results of the investigation of the criminal case are put under control in the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia.
Now the scene is being examined by forensic investigators and explosives specialists. Judicial examinations will be appointed.
“Investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia, in cooperation with the operational services of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, are establishing all the circumstances of the incident, as well as the persons involved in the commission of the crime,” announced in the TFR.
Who may be involved in the attack
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the police, in the course of the “Interception” plan, detained a previously convicted man born in 1993, who may be involved in the explosion.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that he was aware of the incident, but who did it is still unclear: “We must wait for information from law enforcement agencies.”

State Duma deputy from the Communist Party faction Nina Ostanina expressed condolences to the relatives of the deceased and gave an assessment of what happened – “mean and vile.”
The assassination attempt was also commented on by the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin. In a statement that was promptly distributed by his press service, he thanked Prilepin for his support and expressed the hope that everything would be fine with him.
