The military regime, which took power in Niamey, announced in a statement on Monday August 14 that it was recalling the Niger ambassador to Abidjan, after remarks by Alassane Ouattara. The Ivorian president is accused of having “advocated armed action against” the country. Referring to the green light given by Niger’s West African neighbors to a possible armed intervention to restore constitutional order, the military regime denounces Alassane Ouattara’s “eagerness” to “see this aggression, which is illegal in all respects, take place and senseless against Niger”.
