Feijóo will intervene in the plenary session of Congress on the amnesty law
The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will be in charge of defending this Thursday in the Plenary Session of Congress the opposition of the Popular Group to the amnesty law, as confirmed by party sources. The norm reaches the plenary session for the second time, after being approved in the Justice commission, and once approved, the bill will go to the Senate, a Chamber in which the popular will use its absolute majority to delay the processing of the norm.
Feijóo already announced at the start of the legislature that he would undertake a “political, judicial and social offensive” against this law, which the popular people see as an “act of political corruption” by the Government of Pedro Sánchez to remain in the Moncloa Palace .
One of the lines of action of the PP against this rule has been the street. Since last autumn, the first opposition party has called four large demonstrations against the amnesty and has also joined those organized by civil society. The last one, last Saturday in Madrid’s Plaza de Cibeles.
The PP has also announced that it will appeal the law before the courts “by all means” once approved and will ask for the protection of the European Union. The PP has conveyed to the European Commission the steps and agreements that have been approved with the independentists, with the confidence that it will act once approved.
