Aragonès: “The parties that have caused these budgets to fail must assume their responsibility”
The acting president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Pere Aragonès, has assured that he has been negotiating with all the Catalan political groups to move forward with the Budgets, which were finally not approved this morning in the absence of a vote. “I made it clear that, if the Budgets did not pass, it was a scenario in which we might not serve the country well. The parties that have caused these Budgets to not be passed must assume their responsibility,” Aragonès said in an interview on TV3, which has warned of the investments and aid that remain in the drawer. “My obsession from the first moment I entered the office was to provide security.”
He president has charged once morest Junts and has defended the usefulness of the budgets. “They have asked me for elections and in the followingnoon they have told me that since I call elections I am a sectarian. I think Junts has to clarify itself. If we are in this situation it is because there are political groups that have overturned budgets that are good,” he stressed. Junts has assumed this followingnoon that its candidate for the elections will be former president Carles Puigdemont. Asked regarding this, Aragonès pointed out: “I have nothing to say. He was already a candidate in the 2021 elections and came third.”
Aragonès has also defended the amnesty law. “A new stage is opening. And the elections must also serve to open a new stage,” he said in the interview with Catalan public television. And regarding Sánchez’s decision to extend the 2024 General Budgets, Aragonès has indicated that work might have been done to reach agreements. “But we are prepared to defend the interests of Catalonia here and everywhere,” he concluded.
