FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Both political parties in North Dakota are preparing for a busy weekend in Fargo.
The Democratic-NPL and the North Dakota GOP will both be hosting their conventions in Fargo this weekend, with the GOP convention at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex at NDSU, and the Democratic convention at the Avalon Event Center.
Both conventions will be kicking off with events Friday night, with the nominations scheduled for Saturday.
Guests are welcome to attend both conventions, and both parties are expecting large turnout.
“I think North Dakota republicans love conventions; they love this every couple of years just getting the chance to come together. There are some contested races, but more than that they’re going to come and show their support for the candidates seeking their endorsement.” Melissa Paulik, Communications Director of the North Dakota GOP said.
“We set ambitious goals for our districts to find delegates, and the rural districts in particular have been super responsive, they have filled their delegate slates. So, we expect regarding 420 delegates to be here for Friday and Saturday.” Cheryl Biller, Executive Director of the Democratic-NPL said.
