Kolkata: Trinamool members clashed following the assassination of a Trinamool Congress leader in Bhirbhum, Bengal. Several houses were set on fire. Ten people were killed. Seven bodies were found in a burning house alone.
Twelve houses were set on fire. The attackers set fire to five houses following locking them outside. Informed firefighters were stopped. It took hours for them to reach the scene of the accident. By then, the bodies were charred beyond recognition. The Trinamool Congress has stated that there is no politics behind the conflict.
A special team of three people is tasked with investigating the incident. Yanwant Singh, Miraj Khalid and Sanjay Singh are in charge of the investigation. Rampurhat police station officer-in-charge and SDPO have been suspended.
Badu Sheikh, a Trinamool leader from Barshal village and a resident of Bogto, was killed in a bomb blast on Monday. The attack was carried out by a group of four on bikes. It is learned that problems between the two factions of the Trinamool Congress led to the assassination of the leader. This was followed by violence in the area.
