(Archyde.com, Kyiv, 24th) Ukraine’s State Border Guard said today that Polish farmers have ended their blockade of one of the crossing points on the Ukrainian-Polish border and truck traffic has been fully restored. Protests by Polish truck drivers at other border crossings will continue.
“Truck traffic has resumed: Polish farmers have ended the blockade in front of the Medyka-Shehyni border crossing,” the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine wrote on the messaging app Telegram.
The Ukrainian State Border Guard quoted the Polish Border Guard as saying that the protest in front of the border crossing ended at 9:30 a.m. Kiev time today.
The unit also said: “Registration and transit procedures for trucks entering Ukraine will continue as usual.”
Polish farmers said yesterday that they will suspend protests at the Ukrainian-Polish border crossings starting from the 24th, but Polish truck drivers will continue to block the other three crossing points during Christmas.
Polish truck drivers have continued to block multiple crossing points on the Ukrainian-Polish border since November 6, demanding that the European Union restore the requirement that Ukrainian companies require permits to operate within the EU.
Polish farmers later joined truck drivers in demanding that the government subsidize corn without raising taxes. Central News Agency (translation)
