A commission of the Miranda State Police was ambushed this Saturday night in the Tocorón sector, between the San Francisco de Yare and Ocumare del Tuy roads. The incident left a uniformed officer dead.
The victim was identified as Officer Rodolfo Sulbarán Bastidas, 23 years old.
According to reports, the commission was passing through the area when they were surprised by alleged members of the “Carlos Capa” gang. In the ambush, the officer was injured with a bullet to the head, for which he was taken to a hospital, where he died hours later.
