POLICIES to facilitate the financing process for the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector must be accompanied by transparency among the actors and implementers of the financing program.

“Efforts to facilitate the financing process for the MSME sector must be fully supported by all parties as part of efforts to accelerate national economic equality and growth,” said Deputy Chairperson of the MPR RI, Lestari Moerdijat in a written statement, Friday (2/8).

The Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (Kemenkop UKM) together with the Ministry of Finance plans to increase access to financing for MSMEs by formulating a credit scoring system policy so that small and medium business actors can get credit without being burdened by collateral obligations.

According to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), in 2023 there will be around 66 million MSMEs in the country. This number grew by 1.5% compared to 2022.

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry also noted that in 2023 the national MSME sector will contribute around 61% to Indonesia’s gross domestic product (GDP).

According to Lestari, with this potential, policies to overcome obstacles in the MSME sector, such as funding problems, are strategic steps that must be realized immediately.

The NasDem Party High Council member really hopes that efforts to facilitate financing in the MSME sector will receive support from all parties, so that the people’s economic sector can become part of a strong national economic foundation in the future. (Z-6)
