In the rescue of a man who was in danger of drowning in the sea in the area of the Drapetsonas Fertilizers multi-purpose area, police officers of the DIAS Team proceeded yesterday evening, according to a post made by EL.AS. on social media which was even accompanied by the video of the rescue.
In particular, as can be seen in the video, the police officers dived into the sea and helped a man who was trapped with a longline at his feet and could not swim.
Officers managed to extricate the man and brought him safely to shore where he was given first aid.
The relevant post of ELAS in detail: “Last night (23/08/2024) police officers of the DI.AS team. they received a signal of a person calling for help at sea in the area of the Drapetsonas fertilizer yard.
The officers, defying the danger, dove into the sea, swam to the person and found that he was trapped with a line around his feet, making it impossible for him to swim away.
They immediately cut the line and carried the person to shore where they administered first aid.
In fact, a policeman in this attempt was slightly injured in his left leg by the rocks.”
