TORNBY:Shortly following 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening, both North Jutland Police and North Jutland Emergency Services responded to a report of a wildfire in the dunes between south of Tornby Strand in Vendsyssel.
According to chief of duty René Kortegaard from Nordjyllands Police, the first reports are that fireworks may have started the fire.
– Because of the wind, the fire is spreading quickly, writes North Jutland Police on Twitter.
So far, it is the firemen from Hirtshals who are fighting to get control of the fire, the emergency services inform.’
According to René Kortegaard, it is an area of approx. 100×200 metres, which has caught fire.
– And it’s still burning, informs the warden at 9.30 p.m.
At At 21:38, North Jutland Police called on residents of holiday homes at Russerbakkevej, Horsebækvej and Øksenbækvej to stay indoors and close windows and doors.
