Police Team-Building Goes Wrong: Violent Confrontation with Brussels Youth Leads to Multiple Injuries

This Tuesday, Sudinfo tells us that, on June 1, the team-building of this same brigade went very wrong. The police officers, who were regarding fifteen and outside their professional framework, indeed crossed the road of several young people. “The police had been drinking since the morning, they were all drunk and the problem is that this is probably what started it all when they came across a group of young people from Brussels aged 14 to 16”says a daily source.

A fight then broke out between the two groups and the young people, more numerous, obviously took the upper hand. The toll is heavy: nine police officers injured, including 4 seriously. One of the police officers has his jaw broken following receiving a violent blow from a paddle. We also deplore a broken nose, broken ribs, a perforated eardrum or a torn hand tendon.

“Given the escalation of violence in Brussels, during the interventions, I have to adapt my behavior”

Questioned by Sudinfo, the Namur public prosecutor’s office and the spokesperson for the local police of Brussels West confirm the facts but refuse to comment.
