The Zaire and Malanje Provincial Commands of the National Police reinforced patrolling along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), during the festive season. Commissioner João Cariqui guaranteed that the patrolling of forces on the border between the province of Malanje and the DRC is reinforced, with a view to maintaining order and security, at a time when the neighboring country awaits the release of the electoral results.
According to the provincial commander of Malanje, the border between the two countries is safe and controlled, adding that any anomalous situation will be promptly suppressed by the troops deployed on the ground. He explained that the post-election period is prone to disrespect on the part of some discontented people, encouraging attempts to violate the border to seek refuge in Malanje, according to Angop.
The official commissioner said that the government is closely monitoring the elections in that country and personnel are on standby to make the common border inviolable. The province of Malanje shares a 140-kilometer river border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), through the regions of Tembo Aluma (municipality of Marimba) and Muheto (Massango).
Commissioner Firmino Uyamba, provincial commander of Zaire, while addressing the forces of the provincial delegation from the Ministry of the Interior on parade, called for discipline and a spirit of mission to counter possible infractions during the festive season, with emphasis on illegal immigration and fuel smuggling.
He explained that a contingency plan is in force, drawn up by the General Command of the National Police and directed to the northern region of the country in the event of a possible change in public order along the border with the DRC. Four of the six municipalities in the province of Zaire, namely Mbanza Kongo, Cuimba, Soyo and Nóqui, share a border with the DRC, covering a length of 310 kilometers.
