Asuncion, IP Agency.- On Tuesday, the National Police received more than 2,000 weapons seized during Operation Dakovo, which dismantled an international trafficking ring. The batch will be used to equip the security forces, as a down payment on the investments planned by the Government.
Police Commander Carlos Benítez stressed that the weapons are part of the investment and strengthening plan for the next three years.
He recalled that US$92 million will be invested to incorporate equipment, vehicles, logistics and technology. Starting this year, 5,000 new agents are expected, who will reinforce the police ranks and equipment will be needed, in addition to the benefits stipulated in the new Organic Charter of the Police, in order to dignify their work.
In his first management report, President Santiago Peña highlighted the Major operations once morest organized crimewhich caused a loss of US$ 180 million, since August 2023.
One of them was “Dakovo”, which in early December dismantled a network that sent weapons to criminal factions in Brazil through 22 simultaneous raids in Asunción and Ciudad del Este.
