The Brussels-North police held a Bob check on rue de Quatrecht in Schaerbeek during the night from Saturday to Sunday. Around 7:15 a.m. Sunday morning, the police tried to intercept a vehicle registered in France but the motorist fled.

Four agents initiated the pursuit on motorcycles but at Serres royales, avenue du Parc royal in Laeken, the fleeing motorist hit one of the bikers who fell from his vehicle. The man received first aid from his colleagues and was taken to hospital by ambulance. According to the prosecution, his life is not in danger, but he will be unable to work for at least three weeks.

The pursuit of the French vehicle continued, with the support of teams from the Brussels-West zone (Jette, Ganshoren, Koekelberg, Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Berchem-Sainte-Agathe) until the fleeing motorist ultimately caused an accident near the Strombeek-Bever exit of the A12. He was then able to be intercepted, not without effort: he resisted his arrest so much that another Brussels-North police officer was injured. He is incapacitated for work for at least five days.
