Since before 8:00 am on Saturday, July 13, several main roads in Valencia were blocked by police officers, while access from the southern and eastern highways was kept under surveillance at roadblocks.
Avenues such as Fernando Figueredo and Paseo Cabriales are closed by uniformed officers from the Valencia Municipal Police and crews from the Plan Búho, both on the grounds of repairs for which they poured a large quantity of sand onto the asphalt.
These two roads lead directly to Cedeño Avenue, the site of a rally called by the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) that will be attended by presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, along with opposition leader María Corina Machado.
At the Santa Rosa, El Boquete, San Blas, Firestone, Las Chimeneas and El Trigal distributors, as well as at the intersections on Bolívar Avenue, there is a strong police presence with a checkpoint where they stop, above all, motorcycles and pickup trucks with cabins.
Similar case in another area of Valencia
Something similar happened on the followingnoon of Thursday, July 4, when the presidential campaign began and security forces blocked access to Bolívar Avenue, where the final rally would take place.
Before 10:00 am, Cedeño Avenue already had a significant number of people gathered with Venezuelan flags, banners and whistles, waiting for the rest of the Carabobo residents who will participate in this activity, and who leave from more than 50 points in the state.
