A man armed with a knife stabbed an NYPD officer Saturday night outside the New Year’s Eve celebrations in Times Square, law enforcement sources told News 4.
The attack took place around ten o’clock at night on 8th avenue in Manhattan, between 51st and 52nd streets, approximately one block from the perimeter of Times Square prepared for the celebrations of the ball drop.
According to the sources, the man pounced on one of the few agents who were in the street, hitting him with the knife. The officer was taken to a Manhattan hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
At least one officer fired at the suspect, hitting him in the shoulder, according to the sources. His injuries are not life threatening either.
