A little earlier, the public prosecutor of Nanterre had announced the opening of a judicial investigation. “In the state of the investigations, the prosecution considers that the legal conditions for the use of the weapon are not met”he said at a press conference this morning.
During the hearings, the policeman who fired the shot “explained his action by the desire to avoid a further escape from the vehicle, by the dangerousness of the driver’s road behavior, inducing in the police officer the fear that someone would be knocked down, the fear of being hit by the vehicle during its restarting or seeing his injured colleague, added the prosecutor. The two police officers said they felt threatened when they saw the driver restart.
