The Indonesian National Police (POLRI) is collaborating with PP PBSI to hold the 2024 Kapolri Cup Badminton Championship tournament from July 22, 2024 to July 27, 2024 at the Jakarta State University Sports Hall and Pulogadung District Sports Hall.

The tournament is planned to be attended by 480 participants from age groups and participants from Polri members. The tournament was held in a series of celebrations for the 78th Bhayangkara Anniversary.

“The general participants are 480 U15, U17 and U19 participants, and the Police are 64 teams from the Satker Mabes and ranks,” said Deputy Secretary General of PP PBSI Edi Sukarno at the Police Headquarters, South Jakarta on (18/7).

Edi said that the non-Polri participants came from age groups that already had national rankings.

“Once registration was opened to the public, 1,212 athletes had registered. But following discussing with the committee from the National Police, we only determined 1-32, the draw size is 32. So those who compete will be those who have the highest national point ranking,” he said.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the 2024 Kapolri Cup Badminton Championship committee, Karo Pal Slog Polri, Brigadier General Irman Sugema said the tournament aims to hone young Indonesian badminton athletes.

“We from the committee support and encourage the search for young players who will hopefully achieve success towards the Golden Indonesia,” said Irman.

“So the Police are not only in the framework of law enforcement, of course how in this Bhayangkara Anniversary they want to make a success of the series of activities and support community programs,” he added. (Z-6)
