The police closed last week a brothel in Beersel, in Flemish Brabant, where four women working illegally on Belgian territory worked, the area of the Senne valley, which covers the municipalities of Hal, said on Wednesday. Beersel and Leeuw-Saint-Pierre.
The police intervened following complaints from several neighbors. After investigation, it appeared that the establishment did not have the necessary authorizations and did not comply with fire standards. The police then organized a check in collaboration with the services of the National Social Security Office (ONSS), the Flemish Housing Inspectorate and the Foreigners Office.
“During this check, we discovered four women who were apparently working as prostitutes. Illegally resident, they were placed in a closed center to be sent back to their country of origin,” the police said. “The building had been transformed to accommodate several customers at the same time, with, among other things, an improvised waiting room in the garage.”
The police have drawn up a report for human trafficking and the ONSS for undeclared work.
The building was sealed until given a new function.
