The police, who have been investigating the allegations of ‘Seongnam FC’ sponsorship funds, have notified the prosecution of the results of the investigation that Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, is admitted.
It is said that the ‘third party bribery crime’, in which a public official receives an illegal solicitation and bribes a third party, is established.
This is a different conclusion than it was a year ago.
At that time, the police closed the case saying that there was no charge once morest Lee, but earlier this year, the investigation was resumed at the request of the prosecution for a supplementary investigation.
This case is suspected in 2015 that Seongnam City changed the hospital land owned by Doosan to commercial use and tripled the floor area ratio in exchange for a donation of 5.5 billion won from Doosan for ‘Seongnam FC’.
Doosan built the ‘Bundang Doosan Tower’ on the spot, and it is evaluated that real estate values have risen sharply.
In particular, it is reported that Seongnam City asked Doosan to donate 15% of the site in return for raising the floor area ratio, but finally accepted the ‘10% donation’.
Police said that it was judged that Seongnam City gave Doosan such a preferential treatment and received Seongnam FC sponsorship in return. .
However, it has not been confirmed that the donation money provided by Doosan has flowed to CEO Lee, and the charge of bribery has not been applied.
The police explained the reason for the change in the conclusion, saying, “We have secured meaningful statements from the people involved in the case.”
CEO Lee has opposed the re-investigation, saying it was a normal advertisement attraction and support for business activities.
