Police captured glass breakers in Bogotá after theft of several vehicles

Bogota Metropolitan Police confirmed that in the last few hours in the north of the city, on Calle 106 with Carrera 9, at approximately eight o’clock at night several shots were heard following registering a chase by several uniformed men.

According to the first information two men and a woman who were captured; they were stealing several vehicles in this area under the modality of breaking windows. Among the items stolen and found by the authorities, They found cell phones, wallets and money for more than 1 million 700 thousand pesos.

Faced with the call of the community, the police quadrant reacted and began the chase together with several patrols; Blocks later, the two men and the woman were arrested and brought before the competent authorities. The Police made the call to the victims to make the respective complaints and thus be able to prosecute these criminals.

In recent days, the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, announced that During the first days of January, 42 homicides were registered, which represents a drop of 18% compared to the same period in 2021, in addition to only 15 cases of extortion, compared to 54 in 2021.

Regarding personal injuries, the mayor announced that 755 personal injuries were recorded compared to 924 in 2021; “3,362 cases of theft of people compared to 3,691 in 2021; 164 thefts from commercial establishments, compared to 428 in 2021; and 245 thefts to residences, compared to 439 in 2021″.

Regarding cell phone theft, a decrease of 27% was recorded (1,690 in 2022 vs. 2,314 in 2021); while bicycle theft reflected a 41% drop (314 in 2022 compared to 536 in 2021).

“Other indicators that also registering a downward trend are sexual crimes, of which 257 were committed in the first days of 2021 and 100 in the first days of 2022; as well as 601 cases of domestic violence, so far this year, compared to 1,319 cases in 2021″.
