Police arrested a driver in his 20s who was driving drunk and crashed into 19 vehicles, including two patrol cars, while running away following firing live ammunition and a Taser. The driver was eventually arrested.

On the 21st, the Ansan Branch of the Suwon District Court (Chief Judge Nam Seong-woo) issued an arrest warrant for Mr. A (28), who is suspected of obstructing the execution of special official duties, violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving), and damaging public property, saying, “There is concern regarding running away.” .

Mr. A is accused of driving his SUV drunk on the road in Seonggok-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si at 11:18 pm on the 19th, disobeying the police’s request to stop, and running away, hitting another vehicle.

The police dispatched following receiving the report asked Mr. A to get off, but Mr. A ran away for regarding 14 km and entered the parking lot of an officetel in Ansan. The police blocked the entrance to the parking lot with two patrol cars to prevent Mr. A from escaping, but Mr. A hit a parked vehicle and damaged a total of 19 vehicles in 6 minutes.

When Mr. A continued to try to run away without getting out of the car, the police fired two blank bullets and six live bullets near the tires and stopped the car. He then used a triple baton to break the window on the driver’s side of the vehicle, and fired one Taser gun at Mr. A, subduing him. Mr. A was arrested as a red-handed offender, and his blood alcohol level was said to be 0.1%, which was at the level of license revocation.

It was discovered that Mr. A was returning home following having a dinner with co-workers. During the police investigation, Mr. A said, “She was drunk and I don’t remember much.” The police plan to continue further investigation into Ms. A.
