LONDON (AP) — A second man suspected of stealing a Banksy artwork — a Stop sign adorned with three military drones — has been arrested, London police said Sunday.
The man in his 40s was being held on suspicion of robbery and criminal damage, the Metropolitan Police said. Another man, aged in his 20s, was arrested on Saturday and released on bail.
Witnesses who arrived at that street corner on Friday in Peckham, south London, less than an hour after Banksy posted a photo of the work on Instagram, said they were astonished to see a man removing the work with tongs. while another man held the bicycle he was standing on.
The incident was captured in photos and videos.
Banksy’s art often points to war and many of his followers interpreted the work as a call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
