POLDA Metro Jaya has arrested 16 people during a demonstration held in front of the MPR/DPR RI building and the KPU RI office yesterday, Tuesday (19/3).
“From the location of the demonstration at the KPU, there were 8 people who were being questioned. There were 8 people at the demonstration at the DPR RI building who were being questioned to be investigated simultaneously by police officers,” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi to reporters. , Wednesday (20/3).
Ade Ary said they were detained because they disturbed order and security. This violates the provisions of Law Number 9 of 1998 concerning Freedom to Express Opinions in Public.
“Of course there is a reason that fellow police officers carried out checks on several of these people because there was a disturbance in security and order last night. However, persuasive communication literacy appeals have been made,” he said.
Currently the 16 people are still undergoing examination at Polda Metro Jaya. The police will ask for information regarding the demonstration that took place yesterday.
“Examination and in-depth investigation is to find out regarding the incident because in the process of notifying the submission of action in writing there is a statement from the officer regarding the procedures for submitting opinions. This is what is being studied,” he explained.
