The Provincial Command of the National Police in Huíla, in the early hours of Thursday, arrested 13 citizens allegedly involved in the vandalization of a booth at the Integrated Public Security Center (CISP), located next to the old “João de Almeida” market. , in the neighborhood with the same name, on the outskirts of the city of Lubango
The information was provided to the press yesterday, in Lubango, by the Provincial Commander of the National Police in Huíla, Commissioner Divaldo Júlio Martins, during the public presentation of the accused.
According to the commander, in addition to the 13 young people detained, there is another group that was also involved in the vandalism of the CISP Cabin, which allegedly caused extensive damage to the equipment that served to guarantee public safety in that neighborhood.
Commissioner Divaldo Martins explained that the accused took advantage of the process of deactivation of the old João de Almeida market, where some vendors persisted in carrying out their commercial activities, to carry out such acts. “
Yesterday [quarta-feira] We had a not very pleasant situation, not only in terms of public safety but also in terms of normal social life. We were doing work properly aimed at removing vendors from the João de Almeida market to the Nagombe River market”, he highlighted.

Through the videos captured by the CISP cameras, it was possible to identify these individuals who will be presented to the Public Ministry so that they can be exemplarily punished”, he stressed. She then added that “there are more citizens, especially those who were directly and indirectly involved, we will also identify the mentors of this act, because something here has to be clear”.
Divaldo Martins said that no one can jeopardize public safety due to emotions or subjective reasons. “What happened is unacceptable and we will act accordingly to the harm caused,” he warned.
Market transfer
The João de Almeida market was closed in 2013, at a time when Francisco Leonardo Barros was heading the Lubango Municipal Administration. The sellers who carried out their activities were, on that occasion, transferred to a new market built in the Nagombe River area.
The lack of public transport, which caused poor customer adherence, led these sellers to abandon the aforementioned market to create another in the previous location, despite the fact that some infrastructures had already been built on site, particularly the Municipal Hospital. from Lubango Olga Chaves.
This year, the Municipal Administration of Lubango, led by Lizender André, decided to give an ultimatum to the niche of sellers who still persisted in selling there.
