Police Anticipate Cyber ​​Attacks During Pope Francis’ Visit

POLRI ensures that it will secure all series of activities during the visit of the highest leader of the Catholic Church in the world who is also the Head of State of the Vatican, Pope Francis, to Indonesia. The anticipation also includes the threat of cyber attacks.

“Then for content or attacks, yes, we have also prepared cyber ones, we are also working together with the TNI,” said the Commander of the Indonesian Police Mobile Brigade Corps, Brigadier General Imam Widodo at the TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Monday (2/9).

Imam hopes that all activities of the Pope’s visit will run safely, successfully, and smoothly. Success in securing the Pope’s visit is indirectly said to be able to make Indonesia’s name famous.

“We hope that everything will be safe, successful and smooth, because this is a gamble for the Indonesian nation,” he said.

Furthermore, Imam revealed that Pope Francis’ visit upon arrival in Indonesia will be to the Vatican Embassy on Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, Gambir, Central Jakarta. Then, the Merdeka Palace on Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Gambir, Central Jakarta.

“Then, there were also activities to the Cathedral, the State Palace, then to the Istiqlal Mosque, and finally holding Mass at the GBK,” explained the three-star general.

For your information, Pope Francis is scheduled to visit Indonesia on September 3-6, 2024. More than 4,000 joint police and military personnel will secure all series of activities of Pope Francis’ visit to the country. (P-5)
