The Central Bank (BC) announced that police, prosecutors and other entities that have legal attributions of criminal prosecution, control or investigation of irregularities will be able to directly consult the registration data linked to the Pix keys.

According to BC, sharing information with authorities seeks to make the Pix platform more efficient in the fight against fraud and crime. The municipality highlighted that this feature will only cover people who are targets of investigation.

Authorities will have access to registration data linked to Pix keys, such as user name, CPF / CNPJ, registered entries, relationship institution, agency and account number, in addition to other user details.

As explained by the BC, currently, when the criminal prosecution authorities request the provision of this data, the process is carried out in a non-automated manner, through prior and individual treatment by the Central Bank servers.

Direct sharing of information begins next September 1st. The BC ensured that the novelty does not represent any type of interference by the public authorities in the private information of users of the Pix system.

“Pix transaction data, such as transfers, purchases and withdrawals, protected by bank secrecy, will not be covered by the functionality”, said the consultant at the Central Bank’s Department of Competition and Financial Market Structure, Breno Lobo.
