Gérald Hustache-Mathieu signs “Polar Park” for Arte, a series carried by the tandem Jean-Paul Rouve and Guillaume Gouix. In six tasty episodes, the duo playing respectively a writer and a police officer track a potential serial killer in a village in the Jura.
David Rousseau (Jean-Paul Rouve), writer of successful detective novels lacking inspiration, returns to Mouthe, a village in the Jura where he spent part of his childhood, reputed to be the coldest in France. A monk, Brother Giacomo, promised to tell him a secret regarding his mother. On his arrival, David learns that the monk in question is dead, while strange events disrupt the frozen daily life of the village: the discovery of a human ear, then that of a corpse imitating a self-portrait of Van Gogh.
To the despair of the Cartesian local policeman who dreams of being an FBI agent, Warrant Officer Louvetot (Guillaume Gouix), David interferes in the investigation by constructing hypotheses worthy of his novels. Could a serial killer be hiding in Mouthe?

Nods to the Coen brothers or David Lynch
A pleasant and successful mix of thriller and comedy, the series “Polar Park” by Gérald Hustache-Mathieu is very appealing thanks to the endearing duo played by Jean-Paul Rouve and Guillaume Gouix. The screenwriter and director brings the heroes of his film “Poupoupidou” back to life here. (2011) which the two actors already played at the time.
Between nods to the Coen brothers or David Lynch, Gérald Hustache-Mathieu deploys a poetic, eccentric and burlesque universe, colorful and dotted with thrills. Rather than a sequel to the feature film, the series reorganizes certain elements into six episodes in a setting resembling large American spaces or in the heart of refrigerated atmospheres.
The investigation of the improbable tandem is punctuated by corpses systematically dressed or undressed on the model of a masterpiece of painting. The two friends cross paths with a French teacher (India Hair) who adores David Rousseau or a hyper-maniacal librarian. Each fragile character in “Polar Park” seems to be searching for his place.
